Montevideo, Uruguay | 67mW DC
Permitting | Construction | Government
The Uruguayan government in concert with UTE, the country’s sole power provider, announced its first 200 mW solar decree in May 2013, seeking companies that could quickly execute projects prior to Dec 31, 2016. Having assembled a strong local presence with influential partners, Renewvia formed a Uruguayan entity (Giacote S.A.), and is one of four companies that were awarded a 50 mW allocation to design, build, own and operate utility scale solar plants. Renewvia secured land options, interconnection approvals, all necessary environmental and construction permits, and signed the PPA with UTE. The project was acquired by Solarpack and SunEdison.
