Save Money | Generate Power | Reduce Carbon Footprint
When Renewvia Energy designed and installed a new 150-kilowatt (kW) commercial distributed rooftop solar array for Comer Distributing Company, we converted what was essentially dormant roof space into a renewable energy generator that will:
SAVE the Rock Hill, South Carolina, company $905,000 over the next 25 years;
GENERATE 80 percent of the power required to operate Comer’s distribution facility;
REDUCE the family-owned company’s annual greenhouse emissions by 148 metric tons.
BREAKING INTO THE BEER WHOLESALER INDUSTRY WITH A BANG!
Over the last decade, Renewvia has completed more than two dozen similar solar arrays for automotive, steel fabrication and manufacturing facilities across the United States, including the largest in New Hampshireand one of the largest in Alabama. However, the 468-solar panel array that we designed and installed for Comer marks the company’s first project in the beer distribution industry.
"Reducing our electricity bills and carbon footprint is a win-win in my book. We’ve been operating in Rock Hill since 1971 and see this investment in solar as an investment in the future of our company, our 68employees and our community.” Chip Comer, President of Comer Distributing
WHY SOLAR IS A SMART INVESTMENT IN YOUR COMPANY’S FUTURE
First and foremost, Chip Comer is a trailblazer. This is why we were thrilled to partner with Comer Distributing to develop one of the industry’s first commercial distributed solar arrays in the Southeast. We also know that there is tremendous opportunity for solar to help other beer distributors reduce operating costs by owning as much power as possible.
Henley Odom, our director of business development, worked closely with Chip to evaluate his company’s real estate footprint and corresponding power profile. As you would expect, Comer Distributing’s warehouse consumes a lot power, and after examining the City of Rock Hill Utilities’ solar policy and the state and federal tax credits and rebates, we were able to map out what the most cost-effective plan for creating a specialized solar rooftop system guaranteed to impact the bottom line.
"Creating a proposal to save Comer Distributing nearly $1 million dollar is genuinely exciting, but honestly, the best part of my job is working closely with incredible clients like Chip to move a project from plan to a solar power producing system," says Henley.
